• Heather Barnes, Marketing Specialist, received the 2012 Young Farmers & Ranchers Discussion Meet award

• Dr. David Marshall, State Veterinarian, is now serving as President of the U. S. Animal Health Association

• Stephen Benjamin, director of the Standards Division, will serve in 2012 as Chairman of the National Conference of Weights and Measures.

• Ray Starling, General Counsel, has been honored by the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture for outstanding contributions to the industry.

• David Smith, chief deputy commissioner, served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of ASTM International, the world’s largest voluntary, consensus standards development association.

• State Employee/Governor’s Awards for Excellence have been earned by Gail Weams, Food Distribution Division; the Food and Drug Protection Lab; Operation MoveOut Team with employees from the Veterinary, Emergency Programs and Public Affairs Divisions; Jennifer Nixon, Public Affairs; and Bill Yarborough, Agronomic Services.
