October 12, 2020 - Small Farmers and Local Markets

N.C. Agriculture ranks in the top 5 most diverse states agriculturally due to the number of different commodities and the many different soil types we have across the state.

NC agriculture is incredibly diverse. Most farms are small and access local markets. NCDA will enhance their opportunities through marketing assistance, increasing farm to school deliveries, and assisting small, limited resource, and minority farmers to access state and federal programs. One example is my strong support of using COVID-19 relief funding to help small farmers markets and food hubs remain viable in the pandemic.
